Three-day tours to Chernobyl

There can be some changes due to weather conditions, and upon request of the group!

Day 1:

  • town of Ivankiv, villages of Sukachi and New-Ladyzhychi (built for the former residents of evicted Ladyzhychi village in the Chernobyl Zone);
  • recreation base "Ecopolis" at the bank of Teterev-river: amateur museum of local lore (optional, on request of the group);
  • site of the field camp of the 25th brigade of radiation, chemical and bacteriological protection;
  • (30-km-)Zone checkpoint "Dytyatki";
  • bypass road to the NPP around the town of Chernobyl, built during the first month after the accident;
  • 10-km-zone checkpoint "Lelev";
  • abandoned village of Lelev;
  • site of former vehicle decontamination depot "Lelev";
  • eliminated village of Kopachi (buildings of post-office and farms; ancient beehive, made from tree trunk);
  • site of former vehicle decontamination depot "Kopachi";
  • decontaminated Red Forest, located on the trace of the worst, first release of the radiation directly after the explosion;
  • town of Pripyat, which had population of 50 thousand before the evacuation – introductory visit;
  • Chernobyl NPP:
  • the Sarcophagus and New Safe Confinement ("Arch") – observation lot and visit to the observation building fire station at the NPP; its crews arrived the first to extinguish fire at the NPP after explosion park and monument near the administrative building, where used to be an enormous parking lot in 1986: thousands of people arrived there daily for NPP decontamination, Sarcophagus construction and other works the NPP cooling pond (feeding giant catfish – depending on the season)
  • town of Chernobyl:
  • helicopter pad place of a former parking lot for armored vehicles of radiation reconnaissance exhibition of vehicles which participated in mitigation of the accident fire station of Chernobyl-town: its crews arrived the third to extinguish fire at the NPP after the explosion monument to Chernobyl heroes: a floral tribute St Ilya orthodox church historical blocks and buildings of the town Jewish history of Chernobyl-town: building of a synagogue, graves of Chernobyl zaddiks (place for pilgrimage of Judaists from all over the world), Jewish cemetery, grave of and monument for the Holocaust victims
  • settling in a hotel;
  • dinner in Chernobyl-town (at will);- dinner in Chernobyl-town (at will).

  • Day 2:

  • breakfast in Chernobyl-town (at will);
  • 10-km-zone checkpoint "Lelev";
  • photo session at the stele of Prypayt-town;
  • grave of the antifascist guerillas of World War 2 near the bridge to Prypayt-town;
  • railway bridge to Prypayt-town: photo session;
  • town of Pripyat – detailed acquaintance and photo sessions:
  • main bus station barbed-wire fence, built by the liquidators around the town the building of fire station, which crews arrived the second to extinguish fire at the NPP on the night of explosion on April 26, 1986 building of the townhouse – the first headquarters for mitigation of the accident's consequences hotel "Polissya" which was an observation point for correcting helicopter operations over the ruin of the 4th reactor a hospital, which accommodated the firemen and NPP workers, badly affected by the accident main square: Palace of Culture, soviet supermarket, restaurant amusement park with Ferris wheel unique natural phenomenon – a moss, which collects and concentrates radiation debunking of radiation myths: "a mutated pine tree" sport stadium: its football field turned into a forest town police station quay at the river Pripyat, café "Prometheus", cinema theater "Prometheus" and place of the evacuated monument to Prometheus etc.
  • selfsetllers at the Novoshepelichi village: acquaintance with their way of life, providing aid;
  • dinner in Chernobyl-town (at will);
  • presentation and discussion about Chernobyl and radiation accidents, their mitigation and survival

  • Day 3:

  • breakfast in Chernobyl-town (at will);
  • left bank of Pripyat river, acquaintance with the river flood plain and estuary: nature and selfsettlers;
  • ChNPP and town of Pripyat: final photo sessions;
  • the cooling towers of the third stage of the Chernobyl NPP;
  • abandoned experimental station of radiation biology of animal subjects;
  • the railway station "Yanov"
  • western sector of the Zone: nature, peculiarities of contamination, abandoned villages, selfsettlers;
  • quick "decontamination shot" at "The Hunter's hut" restaurant (optional, on request of the group);
  • dinner in Chernobyl-town (at will);
  • 8-9 p.m. – arrival to Kiev main railway station.
  • Price is USD 655 (for English speaking tourist) / USD 535 (for Russian speaking tourist)

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    THE PRICE INCLUDES

  • We meet from 7.30 to 8.00 a.m. in Kyiv, near Kyiv main railway station (meeting place on the map).
  • We depart from Kyiv at 8.00 a.m. SHARP.
  • We will arrive back to Kiev approximately at 8.30 p.m.
  • We will arrange overnight in Chernobyl's hotel.
  • In case of your absence at the meeting place at the time of departure the payment for the trip won't be refunded.
  • You should have with you your passport – and precisely the one, which data you submitted to us and the Zone authorities! WITHOUT THE PASSPORT NO ONE IS LET IN THE ZONE!
  • According to the Zone regulations, you should wear:
  • a jacket or shirt with long sleeves
  • trousers (NO shorts, NO knee-breeches, NO shirts)
  • boots or sneakers, which fully cover your feet, WITHOUT FANCY OPENINGS.
  • Before the departure, you will be requested to sign two documents, which confirm that you won't blame the Chernobyl zone administration and trip organizers for any possible health states, which may or may not occur during the trip or in the future.
  • all formal permissions,
  • comfortable auto transportation Kiev-Zone-Kiev (air conditioning, viewing a selection of documentary films on the route),
  • accomodation in Chernobyl's hotel,
  • English-speaking guide (or guide plus interpreter) " and guide of the Chernobyl Zone,
  • maximally permitted time of stay in the Zone (leaving Kiev at 8.00 a.m., arriving back at 7.30 - 8.30 p.m. of the last day),
  • extended program of the visit, teaching skills of radiation survival, route map and personal certificate about visit to the Chernobyl zone.
